Before the incident
Working on an emergency repair on the receiving conveyor at the feed mill. He had been working through the night to get the system back up and running so that live animals would be fed on time.
What happened
Employee was finishing the job and was in the process of tightening paddles on the conveyor. To do so he was rotating the conveyor around by manually turning the drive pulley. While doing so his thumb got under the drive belt and got pinched between the belt and the pulley the tension on the belt causing high pressure on the thumb at the nail.

Right thumb pinched. Lost his thumbnail. No internal injuries no medical intervention needed.
