getting ready to draw blood on combative patient
What happened
walked up to the police officer and asked if ok to go in and take blood. Proceeded to explain to patient that I was from the lab and explained step by step what I was doing. He said ok. I stuck the needle in his ac then he started cursing and saying take it out. I tried as fast as I could with him jerking and pulling his arm to untie torniquet and remove the needle and before I could safety the needle he threw his arm in a position that caused me to get a needlestick to my left thumb.
