What happened
Driver was exiting the sliding door on the van to make a delivery. Driver stepped on the running board while exiting van. When driver stepped on the running board the running board support arm broke away from the vehicle where it was attached to the van. The running board was attached via 3 support arms which were attached at three or 4 points on the van. Two of those points are on the seam of the rocker panel on the bottom of the van. In this situation the bolts wore through the seam and became disconnected. The running board is now only partially supported and hanging off front he van. When the board separated from the van the driver fell. Driver previously had tendon and cartilage damage to knee from prior injuries. These injuries were impacted more when step dropped and driver fell on knee on the asphalt pavement.
