Before the incident
The employee was assigned to the “micros” all shift. He had come back from his 30-minute lunch break at [REDACTED] and had been weighting out micros for just shy of an hour.
What happened
the employee had just finished up a batch. Then then started refilling moving bagged ingredients into the ingredient storage bins. The bin lip was 5-6 inches higher than the employee and he started to pour a 25 lbs bag (partial bag) into the bin the product free flowed quickly hitting the far side of the bin and splashing back at [REDACTED] coving his entire face and upper torse.
Injury or illness
Inhalation of concentrated Chelated Copper Powder into his lungs and stomach. Eyes were exposed to concentrated chelated copper powder. The employee expressed that he lost the ability to breath immediately after the exposure and shortness of breath difficulty breathing for 5 minutes. Irritation of Lungs throat nose mouth stomach and temporary eyes. Vomiting occurred withing minutes of the event post water intake.
