Associate was delivering luggage to room and was going to use historic guest elevator

Associate went to open elevator as they noticed it wasn 't being operated currently. They went and got the key and opened the door they thought the elevator was on the main floor and stepped backwards into the elevator shaft. Since the elevator was not on the lobby level associate fell one story into basement onto his left ankle.
