What happened
He pushed a 4 4 walnut board into the machine board began being fed by the machine as board was being cut by machine he heard a 'crack ' noise and threw his left hand down on the board that was visible outside the Infeed. Piece of wood broke off the board ejecting rearward and impelled his left hand.
Injury or illness
Penetrating perforating wound with wood strip impelled in the left hand. Fracture left index finger 4th bone. Wood Strip removed in ER the morning of 6 29. He was transferred to hospital bed for observation 6 29 no complications or infection & he was discharged 6 29. 29CFR1910.39(b)(10) inpatient hospitalization for observation only does not require OSHA report call.
