Before the incident
Preparing hatch lid
What happened
An employee in the finishing area came back from lunch and tried to close a hatch lid by themselves. The employee was instructed by several other employees not to close the lid by themselves due to the weight of the lid prior to trying to complete the task. When the employee went to let the lid down the lid got away from them due to the weight and struck the employee on the top of their leg just above the knee. After speaking with employees in the area the hatch lid was also not fully assembled resulting in it closing much harder than it originally should of. The employee was supposed to be working on this lid but had not worked on one of this size previously they were also instructed several times to ask for help when they went to close the hatch.
