While the employee was clearing a jam in the sander he activated the infeed roller to run the components feeding into the sander to reverse this is done by holding down a button on the inside of the sander while jogging the rollers in reverse the employee reached into the area to move a component that was hung and assist the clearing of the jam as he reached in his thumb was caught by the belt and pulled between the belt and a component The employee had released the switch as their thumb was caught and was stuck between the belt and component this caused them to have to raise the sander height in order to free themselves
