Elevator flooring was contracted to be replaced in the passenger elevators. building security was tasked with placing the elevators in inspection mode instead security press the emergency stop switch EE was the on-call engineer and was dispatched to the building to assist after determining that the car was at level he attempted to gain entry with the elevator key and in doing so he pinned his finger between the elevator door and the wall. EE stated when he pulled his finger back the tip was severed.
