He was doing concrete for a few weeks and it had been causing him pain.

He asked his supervisor if he could do something else for awhile until his back stopped hurting. Ultimately he kept performing the job until he could not take the pain anymore and sought medical help. Finishing concrete demands a person to support their body weight with their lower back. I had no problems doing it before surgery. Doctor said there will be some things that will be difficult or painful for me to perform post-operation.
