Employee was using manual lathe to remove rusts from shafts

Employee had removed the rust from half of the shaft. He wanted to check the diameter of the shaft after sanding. While the lathe was running employee tried to slide a pillow block onto the shaft to check the diameter. The bearing got stock on the rotating shaft. The bearing block hit employee across the thumb and finger.
