Before the incident

Employee was reaching across to unhook the passenger side safety chain from the drivers side of the trailer.

What happened

While reaching across to unhook the passenger side safety chain from the drivers side of the trailer employee lost footing to catch his fall he put his hand on pentile hitch between the truck and trailer. During this the excavator operator was rolling down the trailer creating movement between truck and trailer resulting in smashed right ring and pinky finger between hitch and ring.
