Section 5(a)(1) of the Occupational Safety and Health Act of 1970: The
employer did not furnish employment and a place of employment which were
free from recognized hazards that were causing or likely to cause death
or serious physical harm to employees in that employees were exposed to:
a) The hazard of falling from heights of 11 feet up to 35 feet in that
on or about 10/25/90, employees were installing wooden trusses
without adequately bracing them to insure the structural integrity
while standing on such trusses at the Family of Faith Church under
construction, Littleton, Colorado.
Among other methods, one feasible and acceptable method to correct this
hazards is:
1) Install an adequate number of braces (constructed of proper material)
at designated locations as directed in the Truss Plate Institute
Publication BWT-76, Bracing Wood Trusses: Commentary and
Recommendations.
