Section 5(a)(1) of the Occupational Safety and Health Act of 1970: The %% employer did not furnish employment and a place of employment which were free from recognized hazards that were causing or likely to cause death or serious physical harm to employees in that employees were exposed to: (a) On or about August 22, 1990 and at times prior thereto employee(s) were exposed to hazards associated with working on, in or around the slat conveyor which started suddenly without a time delay warning from an audibly signal or designated person that the unit was about to start. Among other methods, one feasible and acceptable abatement method to correct this hazard is: Installation of a delay audible warning system to assure adequate employee warning that the conveyor is about to start.

Section 5(a)(1) of the Occupational Safety and Health Act of 1970: The %% employer did not furnish employment and a place of employment which were free from recognized hazards that were causing or likely to cause death or serious physical harm to employees in that employees were exposed to: (a) On or about August 22, 1990 and at times prior thereto, employee(s) were exposed to hazards associated with working on, in or around the slat conveyor which did not have a emergency stop/pull cord though it started without an audible warning/delay device and was operated by a control panel from which the lower part of the conveyor was not visible. Among other methods, one feasible and acceptable abatement method to correct this hazard is: Installation of an emergency stop pull cord or trip wire along all accessible portions of the length of the conveyor.
