Section 5(a)(1) of the Occupational Safety and Health Act of 1970: The
employer did not furnish employment and a place of employment which were
free from recognized hazards that were causing or likely to cause death
or serious physical harm to employees in that employees were exposed to:

hazard is to eq1uip the elevator with a capacity and data plate
specifying operating data as required by ANSI A17-1-1984, Rule 207.3(a).
b) The hazard of being caught between moving car and hoistway enclosure.
Among other methods one feasible and acceptable method to correct this
hazard is to have the car door or gate equipped with an electric contact
that would prevent movement of the car unless it is in a closed position
as required by ANSI A17.1-1984, Rule 210.2(p).
