Section 5(a)(1) of the Occupational Safety and Health Act of 1970: On or about 10/27/86 the employer did not furnish employment and a place of employment which were free from recognized hazards that were causing or likely to cause death or serious physical harm to employees in that employees were exposed to: The hazards of being struck by the Atrium elevators resulting in serious injury, due to the lack of a fully enclosed elevator hoistway at the lowest landing. One feasible and acceptable abatement method, among others, to correct this hazard is to extend the barrier surrounding the lowest landing to a height sufficient to prevent employee exposure to the elevators. Location: Atrium 1 - Metro Park South, Construction Site, lowest landing.
