Section 5(a)(1) of the Occupational Safety and Health Act of 1970: The %% employer did not furnish employment and a place of employment which were free from recognized hazards that were causing or likely to cause death or serious physical harm to employees in that employees were exposed to fracture and contusion hazards from an airhose which can flagellate if damaged: a) Steel Producing Division, Mold Yard Department - There was no safety cutoff device installed on the compressed air line servicing an air powered tool used to patch molds, August 21, 1989. Among other methods, one feasible and acceptable abatement method to correct this hazard is to install a safety cutoff device at the source of supply or branch line to reduce pressure in case of hose failure.
