General-duty citation text

Section 5(a)(1) of the Occupational Safety and Health Act of 1970:  The
employer did not furnish employment and a place of employment which were
free from recognized hazards that were causing or likely to cause death
or serious physical harm to employees in that employees were exposed to
contact with compressed air:
a) Main Arc Foundry, North End - Employees were noted using an air
hose with compressed air to blow dust from their clothing, exposing
themselves to eye injury and the introduction of air into the blood
stream, on or about February 1, 1990.
Among other methods, one feasible and useful method to abate the alleged
violation is to prohibit this practice and substitute a vacuum cleaning
system for cleaning of personnel.
