Section 5(a)(1) of the Occupational Safety and Health Act of 1970: The employer did not furnish employment and a place of employment which were free from recognized hazards that were causing or likely to cause death or serious physical harm to employees in that employees were exposed to: (a) The hazard of fire and/or explosion due to the ac- cidental contact of methyl ethyl ketone peroxide with combustible materials. Liquid methyl ethyl ketone peroxide was allowed to leak from the pump dispenser in the Mix Room onto plywood and particle board shelving. The drops of liquid methyl ethyl ketone peroxide on the wooden shelving could result in a fire which, in turn, could cause the remaining methyl ethyl ketone peroxide to explode violently. Among others, some feasible means of abatement to control this hazard include.
