Section 5(a)(1) of the Occupational Safety and Health Act of 1970: The
employer did not furnish employment and a place of employment which were
free from recognized hazards that were causing or likely to cause death
or serious physical harm to employees in that employees were exposed to:
a) Production Area beneath entrance to drying oven: Employees are
exposed to falling objects from the overhead conveyor carrying
newly painted articles entering the drying over, outside spray
booth #9.
b) Conveyor Spray Booth Area: Employees are exposed to falling
objects that were attached to the overhead conveyor system as they
pass over this area.
Among other methods, one feasible and acceptable method to correct this
hazard is:
1) Placement of basket or other device to prevent the fall of the object
to the area where employees might be located.
