Section 5(a)(1) of the Occupational Safety and Health Act of 1970:  The
employer did not furnish employment and a place of employment which were
free from recognized hazards that were causing or likely to cause death
or serious physical harm to employees in that:
a) On or about 9/6/89, and at times prior thereto approximately 6 miles
up the north fork of Murr Creek Road, employees were exposed to the
hazards of being struck by or falling from moving logs while limbing
and bucking trees in piles.
One feasible and acceptable abatement method among others to correct
this hazard is to cut and limb trees on ground level.

Section 5(a)(1) of the Occupational Safety and Health Act of 1970:  The
employer did not furnish employment and a place of employment which were
free from recognized hazards that were causing or likely to cause death
or serious physical harm to employees in that:
a) On or about 9/6/89, and at times prior thereto at approximately 6
miles up the north fork of the Murr Creek Road, employees were
exposed to the hazard of felling trees that were not guided safely
during their fall.
One feasible and acceptable abatement method among others to correct
this hazard is to establish a positive method that will prevent cutting
of the holding wood so that the tree can be safely guided during it's
fall. Such positive methods shall include undercuts deep enough to guide
the tree, back cuts level as possible and always above the upper cut of
the undercut.
