Section 5(a)(1) of the Occupational Safety and Health Act of 1970: The employer did not furnish employment and a place of employment which were free from recognized hazards that were causing or likely to cause death or serious physical harm to employees in that employees were exposed to a crushing hazard: a. In that the employee was exposed to crushing effects due to the safety latches not working automatically on both sides of the lift post of the 3rd Rotary Automobile Lift located on the lef-hand side near the front of the shop, on or about January 29, 1993. Among other methods, one feasible and acceptable abatement method to correct this hazard is to ensure that the safety latches are repaired and working automatically. b. In that the employee was exposed to crushing effects due to the safety latch not working on the right side of the lift pole of the automatic locking safety latch on the 2nd Rotary Automobile Lift, located on the left-hand side near the front of the shop, on or about January 29, 1993. Among other methods, one feasible and acceptable abatement method to correct this hazard is to ensure that the safety latch is repaired and working automatically. c. In that the employee was exposed to crushing effects due to the safety latch not working on the left pole of the automatic locking safety latch on the lst Rotary Automobile Lift, located on the left-hand side near the front of the shop, on or about January 29, 1993. Among other methods, one feasible and acceptable abatement method to correct this hazard is to ensure that the safety latch is repaired and working automatically.
