Section 5(a)(1) of the Occupational Safety and Health Act of 1970: The employer did not furnish employment and place of employment which were free from recognized hazards that were causing or likely to cause death or serious physical harm to employees in that employees were exposed to: a) The manually operated manlift in the barley house and the electric manlift located on the overhead platform in the wheat house were not provided with guardrails around the bases of the manlifts. A feasible and acceptable method of abatement, among others, would beto install proper protective guardrails to prevent employees from being crushed by the descending manlifts.
