General-duty citation text
Section 5(a)(1) of the Occupational Safety and Health Act of 1970: The employer did not furnish employment and a place of employment which were free from recognized hazards that were causing or likely to cause death or serious physical harm to employees in that employees were exposed to: a) The hazard of being struck by falling trusses at Building No. 17, at 7800 NW 88 Avenue, Tamarac, FL 33321: in that adequate and continuous lateral bracing and proper diagonal bracing was not used to prevent toppling and dominoing of erected trusses. Bracing through chords laterally and cross bracing was not provided to ensure that trusses were secure in a striaght and plumb position on or about April 28, 1987. Among other methods one feasible and acceptable abatement method to correct this hazard is to install bracing in accordance with the Truss Plate Institute. BWT-76.
