Section 5(a)(1) of the Occupational Safety and Health Act of 1970: The %% employer did not furnish employment and a place of employment which were free from recognized hazards that were causing or likely to cause death or serious physical harm to employees in that employees were exposed to Ingestion of two-part liquid epoxy during the coating of the inside portion of tubing. Employees coat the inside of the plastic tubes by sucking the epoxy solution up the tubes by mouth. Ingestion of the epoxy solution may result in symptoms such as fatigue, muscular weakness, labored breathing, and irritation of the gastrointestional tract. The solution is also a skin sensitizer. Among other methods, one feasible and acceptable abatement method to correct this hazard is to use an aspirator bulb, rather than mouth suction, to draw the epoxy up the tubes.
