Section 5(a)(1) of the Occupational Safety and Health Act of 1970: The employer did not furnish employment and a place of employment which were free from hazards that were causing or likely to cause death or serious physical harm to employees in that employees were exposed to contact with live electrical parts operatiang at approximately 460-480 Volts. (a) Equipment vault No. B-6643, Albee Mall, lower level. Employer failed to provide an engineering method or equipment to prevent employees from being able to contact live electrical parts operating at approximately 460-480V; on or about 7/13/92. ABATEMENT NOTE: Some feasible abatement methods include but are not limited to: 1. Temporary or permanent guarding of live electrical parts. 2. Mandatory use of temporary guarding devices etc., when working on or around this or similar types of equipment, devices such as, insulating protective devices including; rubber mats, blankets, boots, and other approved insulating devices. 3. The mandatory wearing of approved personal protective devices or equipment such as, high voltage or low voltage rubber gloves, rubber sleeves, rubber aprons, etc., when working on or near like or similar type equipment.
