General-duty citation text
Section 5(a)(1) of the Occupational Safety and Health Act of 1970: The employer did not furnish employment and a place of employment which were free from recognized hazards that were causing or likely to cause death or serious physical harm to employees in that employees were exposed to: a) The adhesive department, Room #6, Mogul #6, the hydraulic platform did not interlock to prevent raising of the platform during the fifteen (15) minute "Air Out" cycle exposing employees to hazard of fire and/or explosion. b) In the adhesive department. Room #6, Mogul #6, exhaust vents were not cleaned and maintained to prevent hazardous vapor accumulation. Among other methods, one feasible and acceptable abatement method to correct this hazard is, but not necessarily limited to the following: 1) Effectively interlock the hydraulic platform from being prematurely raised during the "Air Out" cycle, and to prevent the raw materials from going into the mogul unit before the unit is ready to accept it. 2) Clean and maintain the exhaust vents, to prevent hazardous accumulation of vapors and raw materials.
