Section 5(a)(1) of the Occupational Safety and Health Act of 1970:  The
employer did not furnish employment and a place of employment which
were free from recognized hazards that were causing or likely to cause
death or serious physical harm to employees in that employees were
exposed to:
(a)  Wood roof trusses installed at 4088 NW 90 Avenue in
Sunrise, FL 33351 on the clubhouse, were not braced adequate-
ly on February 25, 1991 to prevent a potential truss col-
lapse; exposing employees to being struck or crushed by
falling trusses.
The following deficiencies were found:
(1)  The end trusses had no bracing to the ground.
(2)  There was no continuous lateral bracing for the
40-foot length of the building.
(3)  There was no diagonal bracing in the plane of the
web members.
(4)  End members exhibited evidence of leaning outward.
The hazard of truss collapse may be corrected by bracing the
trusses laterally, diagonally, and on their ends to the
ground as recommended by the Truss Plate Institute in "Brac-
ing Wood Trusses: Commentary and Recommendations BWT-76".
