Section 5(a)(1) of the Occupational Safety and Health Act of 1970: The employer did not furnish employment and a place of employment which were free from recognized hazards that were causing or likely to cause death or serious physical harm to employees in that employees were exposed to: a) Module Selectors - The hazards of back injuries, being struck by falling material and/or slips and falls were present where module selectors stood on the conveyor frame to reach boxes of product leaving as high as 96 inches above the floor and weighing an average of 30 lbs. and placing a minimum of 450 boxes per hour on a moving conveyor near floor level. Among other methods, feasible and acceptable abatement methods to correct this hazard are to eliminate storage in the upper level of the module system or to provide safe access to this level by mechanized or other means.
