Section 5(a)(1) of the Occupational Safety and Health Act of 1970:  The
employer did not furnish employment and a  place  of  employment  which
were free from recognized hazards that were causing or likely to  cause
death or serious physical harm to  employees  in  that  employees  were
exposed to:
(a)  Health care workers employed by Oral Kare were exposed to
the hazards of being infected by Hepatitis B Virus (HBV) through
possible direct contact with blood or other body fluids during
dental examinations and procedures.  Health care workers poten-
tially exposed include dental assistant(s), dental hygienist(s),
dentists and sterilizing technician(s).
Feasible and useful abatement methods for reducing this hazard,
among others are:
(1)  Provide a Hepatitis Vaccination Program to address all
circumstances warranting such vaccination, including exposures
to blood and/or body fluids to mucous membranes, open cuts, and
needlesticks/instrument punctures to intact skin.  Identify all
employees at a substantial risk of directly contacting body
fluids.  All such employees shall be offered the Hepatitis B
Vaccination in amounts and at times prescribed by standard
medical practice.
