Section 5(a)(1) of the Occupational Safety and Health Act of 1970:  The
employer did not furnish employment and a place of employment which
were free from recognized hazards that were causing or likely to cause
death or serious physical harm to employees in that employees were
exposed to:
(a) The bloodborne pathogen training provided to the
staff at the Transitus House was inadequate in that
not all the employees exposed to blood and/or other
potentially infectious materials had been trained
and informed, the regulatory text was not made
available, HIV was not discussed, the exposure control
plan was not completed and discussed, use and disposal
of personal protective equipment and use of sharps
containers was not covered, and means to clean or
disinfect a contaminated surface were not explained.
Among other methods, one feasible and acceptable abatement method
to correct this hazard is to conduct training in accordance with 29
CFR 1910.1030 (g)(2)(i-viii).
