Section 5(a)(1) of the Occupational Safety and Health Act of 1970: The employer did not furnish employment and a place of employment which were free from recognized hazards that were causing or likely to cause death or serious physical harm to employees in that: Employees in the waterpressure tank room were exposed to hazards associated with potential ammonia leaks and potential contact with energized conductors and contact with caustics from damage caused by "hi Temp Acid 2000" and "Alka-Plus" CIP Liquids to piping and the floor of the CIP Room above. Among other methods, feasible and acceptable abatement to correct this hazard is to: 1. Repair and seal the floor of the CIP Room. 2. Provide a drip or other means to contain spills in the CIP Room when mixing chemicals. 3. Provide a condensate overflow return in the CIP Room to a holding tank or other safe location for proper disposal. 4. Install a totally enclosed "clean in place" system.
