Section 5(a)(1) of the Occupational Safety and Health Act of 1970: The
employer did not furnish employment and a place of employment which
were free from recognized hazards that were causing or likely to cause
death or serious physical harm to employees in that employees were
exposed to:
(a)  211 Rivershire Lane Building  Workers using the 1st
floor doorway on the building's north side to enter and
exit the building were exposed to the hazard of being struck
by falling concrete block and bricks from the 5th floor
where the masonry wall was being constructed directly
overhead.  Among other methods, some feasible and useful
methods to correct this hazard are:
(1)The erection of a solid planked canopy at the
doorway that extended a sufficient width and length
from the doorway;
(2)The erection of access paths formed by warning
lines, guardrails, or other devices to safely direct
workers under the canopy; and
(3)Prohibiting the use of the doorway while work is
performed overhead and providing alternative
