Section 5(a)(1) of the Occupational Safety and Health Act of 1970: The employer did not furnish employment and a place of employment which were free from recognized hazards that were causing or likely to cause death or serious physical harm to employees in that employees were exposed to direct contact with compressed air: a) Mill Department - Employee(s) using air hose guaged at 100 p.s.i. to clean saw dust chips from their clothing and body, exposing themselves to eye injuries and the introduction of air into the bloodstream, on or about March 21, 1990. Among other methods, one feasible and useful method to abate the alleged violation is to prohibit this practice and to substitute a vacuum cleaner system of cleaning saw dust chips from the employees.
