Section 5(a)(1) of the Occupational Safety and Health Act of 1970: The employer did not furnish employment and a place of employment which were free from recognized hazards that were causing or likely to cause death or serious physical harm to employees in that employees were exposed to: a) Falls of between 14 1/2 to 15 1/2 feet while landing and installing, sheets of corrugated metal decking being hoisted onto structural metal roof frame for roof over proposed retail store spaces located between K-Mart and the proposed Sav-A-Center in the Oak Harbor Shopping Center, Long Beach, MS. Among other methods, one feasible and acceptable abatement method to correct this hazard is to: 1) Provide guarded mobile scaffold(s) with platform(s) of sufficient length, width, height, and strength to protect employee(s)landing stacks of decking and laying out the first run of decking: 2) Provide safety belts and lanyards attached to a movable life line stretched across roof for employee(s) installing subsequent runs of roof decking.
