Section 5(a)(1) of the Occupational Safety and Health Act of 1970: The employer did not furnish employment and a place of employment which were free from recognized hazards that were causing or likely to cause death or serious physical harm to employees in that employees were exposed to amputation of fingers/hand from unexpected operation of iron worker: (a) Fabrication Area - Buffalo Iron Worker, Serial number 60-Z-2643, had an unguarded foot treadle, on or about March 13, 1991. Among other methods, one feasbile and usefule method to abate this hazard is to cover the treadle mechanism. OR IN THE ALTERNATIVE 29 CFR 1910.212(a)(1): Machine guarding was not provided to protect operators and other employees from hazards created by: (a) Fabrication Area - Buffalo Iron Worker, Serial number 60-Z-2643, had an unguarded foot treadle, on or about March 13, 1991.
