Section 5(a)(1) of the Occupational Safety and Health Act of 1970: The employe did not furnish employment and a place of employment which were free from recognized hazards that were causing or likely to cause death or serious physical harm to employees in that employees were exposed to a fall hazard: a) Hall-Woolford Tank Comppany, Inc., 232-234 Market Street, Philadelphia, PA 19106 - employees were observed installing a conical cover for a wooden water tank without the benefits of a safety belt and lanyard or equivalent fall protection. The tank was appproximately eighty feet from the floor level on the west and south sides of the roof area. Observed 06/30/93. ABATEMENT NOTE: Among other methods, one feasible and accetable abatement method to correct this hazard is for employees to be protected by safety belts and lanyard or equivalent fall protection. %% OR IN THE ALTERNATIVE 29 CFR 1926.28(a): Appropriate personal protective equipment was not worn by employee(s) in all operatives where there was exposure to hazardous conditions: a) Hall-Woolford Tank Company, Inc., 232-234 Market Street, Philadelphia, Pa 19106 - employees were observed installing a conical cover for a wooden water tank without the benefit of a safety belt and lanyard or equivalent fall protection. The tank was approximately eight feet from the floor level on the west and south side of the roof area. Observed 06/30/93.
