Section 5(a)(1) of the Occupational Safety and Health Act of 1970: The employer did not furnish employment and a place of employment which were free from recognized hazards that were causing or likely to cause death or serious physical harm to employees in that employees were exposed to: (a) On or about 03/28/02 for employees working in the feed grinding area and exposed to the potential hazard of being struck by a chain that became entangled on the shaft of the hammer mill motor. Among other methods, one feasible and acceptable abatement method to correct this hazard is to totally enclose the chain guides attached to the wheel sprocket on the gate to prevent the chain from completely disengaging from the wheel sprocket and falling onto the hammer mill motor.
