Section 5(a)(1) of the Occupational Safety and Health Act of 1970: The employer did not furnish employment and a place of employment which were free from recognized hazards that were causing or likely to cause death or serious physical harm to employees in that employees were exposed to the hazard of being struck by overhead doors due to malfunctioning reversing devices: (a) For employees working in the back service area of the hotel and convention center and exposed to the potential hazard of being struck and injured by overhead door #114. (b) For employees working in the back service area of the hotel and convention center and exposed to the potential hazard of being struck and injured by overhead door #1073. (c) For employees working in the back service area of the hotel and convention center and exposed to the potential hazard of being struck and injured by overhead door #1072. (d) For employees working in the back service area of the hotel and convention center and exposed to the potential hazard of being struck and injured by overhead door #1070. (e) For employees working in the back service area of the hotel and convention center and exposed to the potential hazard of being struck and injured by overhead door #1068. (f) For employees working in the back service area of the hotel and convention center and exposed to the potential hazard of being struck and injured by overhead door #1066. Among other methods, one feasible and acceptable abatement method to correct this hazard is to follow the guidelines set forth by the Door & Access Systems Manufacturer's Association International for the installation and testing of safety reversing devices for sectional and roll-up overhead doors.
