FABRICATION AREA: ALUMINUM PIPE WAS POLISHED ON THE BADER BELT
SANDER AND THE RAMCO WIDE BELT SANDER WITHOUT THE USE OF AN
APPROVED DUST COLLECTION SYSTEM. ALUMINUM DUST WAS ALLOWED TO
DISPERSE IN THE AIR AND ACCUMULATE ON MACHINERY AND EQUIPMENT IN
THE WORK AREA.
ONE FEASIBLE AND USEFUL METHOD TO CONTROL THE HAZARD, AMONG
OTHERS, IS TO:
1.INSTALL A DEDICATED, PROPERLY MAINTAINED DUST COLLECTION
SYSTEM FOR ALUMINUM DUST ON ALL MACHINES THAT GENERATE
DUST.  NATIONAL FIRE PROTECTION ASSOCIATION STANDARD NUMBER
65 PROVIDES DESIGN REQUIREMENTS.
2.PRACTICE GOOD HOUSEKEEPING IN THE WORK AREA.
3.PROHIBIT SMOKING IN THE WORK AREA.
