Section 5(a)(1) of the Occupational Safety and Health Act of 1970: The employer did not furnish employment and a place of employment which were free from recognized hazards that were causing or likely to cause death or serious physical harm to employees, in that, employees were exposed to the hazards of falling into the crushing mechanism of a TeleSmith 30 x 42 and a Thunderbird rock crusher when the operators stand at the edge of the work platform to observe the rock crushing operations. Among other methods, one feasible and acceptable method to correct this hazard is to install a standard railing along the periphery of the platform nearest the crushing mechanism.

Section 5(a)(1) of the Occupational Safety and Health Act of 1970: The employer did not furnish employment and a place of employment which were free from recognized hazards that were causing or likely to cause death or serious physical harm to employees, in that, employees were exposed to the hazards of becoming entangled in the belts and pulley of the clutch drive of a TeleSmith 30x42 rock crusher and the belt and pulley drive of the coarse rock conveyor at the TeleSmith cone crusher. Among other methods, one feasible and acceptable method to correct this hazard is to fully enclose the belt and pulley drive with a metal guard.

Among other methods, one feasible and acceptable method to correct this hazard is to completely enclose the flywheel with an enclosure of expanded metal.

Among other methods, one feasible and acceptable method to correct this hazard is to install a nonrotating cap or safety sleeve over the projecting shaft end.
