Section 5(a)(1)of the Occupational Safety an Health Act of 1970: The employer did not furnish employment an a place of employment which were free from recognized hazards that were causing or likely to cause death or serious physical harm to employees. in that employees were exposed to the hazard of falling when an employee was elevated by a case 584C Forklift while standing on an unsecured pallet on the forks in order to unbolt a column in the NTI Area of Diamond Carpet Mills, Inc.: Among other methods, one feasible and acceptable abatement method to correct this hazard is to use a safety platform (i.e. a platform with standard quardrails or the equivalent on all open sides) which is firmly secured to the lifting carriage and/or forks.
