Section 17(a) of the Occupational Safety and Health Act of 1970 and
Section 5(a)(1) of the Occupational Safety and Health Act of 1970: The
employer did not furnish employment and a place of employment which were
free from recognized hazards that were causing or likely to cause death
or serious physical harm to employees in that employees were exposed to:
a) Employees were exposed to the hazard of being struck by or falling
from a collapsing wood roof truss system, in that the trusses were
not adequately braced relative to the amount, size, and location of
braces to prevent collapse, on or about October 28, 1988 thru
November 1, 1988.
Among other methods, one feasible and acceptable method of abatement to
correct this hazard is to install trusses in accordance with the Truss
Plate Institute's "Bracing Wood Trusses, BWT-76."
