Section 5(a((1) of the Occupational Safety and Health Act of 1970: The employer did not furnish employment and a place of employment which were free from recognized hazards that were causing or likely to cause death or serious physical harm to employees in that employees were exposed to crushing hazard: a) Vessel Copiapo hatch #4 port side and employee was permitted to run under a container that was suspended by a hook of a the derrick exposing employee to a crushing hazard. Observed 1/10/90 ABATEMENT NOTE: A feasible method of abatement among others is to prevent employees from standing or passing under the load of the hook.
