Section 5(a)(1) of the Occupational Safety and Health Act of 1970: The employer did not furnish employment and a place of employment which were free from recognized hazards that were causing or likely to cause death or serious physical harm to employees in that employees were exposed to a fall hazard: a) East Wall, Production Area - employees are required to use a ladder which is three feet short of the top of a platform above the restroom when attempting to gain access to the platform, used for storage of material. Observed 1/18/90. ABATEMENT NOTE: One feasible and useful means of abatement, among others, would be to install a permanent, fixed ladder of appropriate height to give safe access to the platform.
