Section 5(a)(1) of the Occupational Safety and Health Act of 1970: The employer did not furnish employment and a place of employment which were free from recognized hazards that were causing or likely to cause death or serious physical harm to employees in that employees were exposed to fire and explosion: a)Kitchen: Fire suppression system,hoods grease removal devices,fans,ducts and walls was not cleaned so as to prevent the surface becoming heavily contaminated with grease or oily sludge as required by proper safe operation N.F.P.A Code 96- 28 section 8-3.1 and New York City Fire Department Code Title 3 section 15-04 (c), on or about 12/05/96. Abatement Note: Among other method, one feasible and accepted method to correct this hazard is to maintain unit as required N.F.P.A code 96-28 section 8-3.1 and New York City Fire Department code Title 3 section 15-04 (c) and train employees.
