Section 5(a)(1) of the Occupational Safety and Health Act of 1970: The %% employer did not furnish employment and a place of employment which were free from recognized hazards that were causing or likely to cause death or serious physical harm to employees in that employees were exposed to a 40 foot fall hazard to the concrete floor below: The alleged violations below have been grouped because they involve similar or related hazards that may increase the potential for injury resulting from an accident. (a) North Wall of Press Hall - Employees were observed in an elevating marklift scissor man lift with the side guard rail removed. Among other methods, one feasible and acceptable abatement method to correct this hazard is to install the guard rails before operation of lift as required by ANSI Standard A92.6-1979 Section 12 Inspection and Maintenance, each work platform shall be inspected and maintained in proper working order in accordance with the manufacturers operating manual.
