Section 5(a)(1) of the Occupational Safety and Health Act of 1970: The employer did not furnish employment and a place of employment which were free from recognized hazards that were causing or likely to cause death or serious physical harm to employees in that employees were exposed to potential fire exposion hazard from improper storage of incompatible chemicals in a confined location: a) Quality Assurance Laboratory - One pint container of sodium hydroxide was stored in the same cabinet with concentrate nitric acid (70%) and hydrochloric acid, tec grade (99%) also one pint containers, violation observed on or about 5/7/91. Among other methods, one feasible and acceptable abatement method to correct this hazard is to seperate the incompatible materials.

Section 5(a)(1) of the Occupational Safety and Health Act of 1970: The %% employer did not furnish employment and a place of employment which were free from recognized hazards that were causing or likely to cause death or serious physical harm to employees in that employees were exposed to multiple fractures due to underhung crane failure: a) Cleveland Overhead Underhung Crane - Pipe storage area and area, had safety deficencies such as: The controller (Pendant) was not marked to indicate the direction of Travel of Bridge or Trolley. Among other methods, one feasible and acceptable method to correct this hazard is to: 1) Correct all safety deficiencies. 2) Conduct frequent and regular inspections of the crane as referenced in ANSI (American National Standards Institute) requirement B30.11.2.1-1979 Monorail Systems and Underhung Cranes.
