Section 5(a)(1) of the Occupational Safety and Health Act of 1970: The employer did not furnish employment and a place of employment which were free from recognized hazards that were causing or likely to cause death or serious physical harm to employees in that employees were exposed to an 18 foot fall hazard to the ground below: a) South Side of Building - Employees were observed working from a JLg, Model 42G, SN718335 Articulating Boom Platform which did not have guardrails on the front side of the basket and employees were not wearing safety belts and lanyards, as referenced by ANSI A92.5-1980, 12/12/91. Among other methods, one feasible and acceptable abatement method to correct this hazard is to enforce the use of safety belts and lifelines or the equivalent, and maintain guardrails.
