Section 5(a)(1) of the Occupational Safety and Health Act of 1970:  The
employer did not furnish employment and a place of employment which
were free from recognized hazards that were causing or likely to cause
death or serious physical harm to employees in that employees were
exposed to a 15
a)  Freemansburg Elementary School Construction Site -
Employees were exposed to a fall hazard of approximately
while attempting to raise a wall section into
place.  Employees on the roof edge hoisted a wall section
(15 foot high X 23      long) into place by attaching ropes
to the wall section as it lay on the ground and using the
ropes to hoist it into place.  No fall protection was
provided for employees on the roof, on or about
June 15, 1992.
ABATEMENT NOTE:
Among other methods, one feasible and acceptable abatement method
to correct this hazard is to provide safety belts and lifelines to
employees and have employees tie off in such a manner as to prevent
movement beyond the roof edge.
